Solutions and Mixtures

Everything around you is made of matter. This unit explores the states of matter and the particle model, the physical properties of substances such as density, solubility and conductivity, and the difference between pure substances and mixtures. You will classify elements, compounds and mixtures, separate mixtures using techniques like filtering, evaporation, distillation and chromatography, investigate solutions and the factors that affect solubility, and follow water through its cycle. Thirteen core lessons cover the Stage 4 syllabus.
