Synthesis scenario — delivery drone

A delivery drone flies: 2 km north in 4 minutes, then hovers (stationary) for 1 minute, then flies 3 km east in 6 minutes. Use this information to answer all four questions below.

(a) Calculate the total distance travelled by the drone for the whole journey (including the hover).

(b) Calculate the magnitude (size) of the drone's displacement from its starting point. Hint: the drone flew north then east — use Pythagoras: displacement = √(2² + 3²) km.
