Fill in the missing effects. Each cause leads to the next step in the chain.
Overall outcome, why parallel wiring is safer and more practical than series wiring:
Real-world context
Australian rooftop solar installations typically wire solar panels in combinations of series and parallel connections, known as series-parallel arrays. A single 400 W panel might produce 40 V and 10 A. To power a 240 V household system, installers connect multiple panels in series to raise the voltage, then connect those series strings in parallel to increase the current available. A typical Australian residential system might use 6.6 kW of panels arranged this way.
(a) Explain why connecting solar panels in series increases the total voltage. Use what you know about how voltage behaves in a series circuit.
(b) Explain why connecting series strings of panels in parallel increases the total current available. Use what you know about how current behaves in a parallel circuit.
(c) Explain why a series-parallel array gives both higher voltage AND higher current than a single panel alone. What is the advantage of combining both wiring types in one system?
