The formula for the area of a triangle is:

A = ½ × b × h

Where b is the base and h is the perpendicular height.

! Notice: You must multiply the area by 2 first before dividing!
Worked Example

A triangle has area 30 cm² and base 10 cm.

1 Start with A = ½bh

2 Substitute and solve

Answer: h = 6 cm
