HSCScience offers high-school maths tutoring for students in Years 7 to 10, live online over video, anywhere in New South Wales, Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast, Wollongong and regional NSW.

Maths is the subject that builds on itself. A shaky patch in Year 7 fractions or Year 8 algebra does not stay in the past, it quietly costs marks in every year that follows. The most valuable thing tutoring does at this age is find those specific gaps and rebuild them, so the current topic finally makes sense and the next one is easier.

Sessions follow the current NSW syllabus and your child's own class: their homework, their assessment, the topic in front of them. Towards the end of Year 10 that same work becomes the on-ramp to senior HSC Maths, helping your child choose and start Standard or Advanced with confidence.

Which years is this maths tutoring for?

Years 7 to 10 (Stage 4 and Stage 5 NSW Mathematics). It covers building foundations in the early years and preparing for senior HSC Maths, Standard or Advanced, towards the end of Year 10.

How does online maths tutoring work?

Sessions run live over video, using screen share and a digital whiteboard to work through problems, worked examples and homework together, step by step, with feedback as you go. There is no travel for anyone.

Who does the tutoring?

HSCScience is run by Kyle James, a current NSW HSC teacher. High-school maths sessions are delivered by a maths tutor he coordinates and trusts, so the teaching is matched to the current NSW syllabus and your child's class.

Can tutoring help fix gaps from earlier years?

Yes. Maths builds on itself, so a wobble in Year 7 or 8 fractions or algebra shows up again later. Sessions can go back and rebuild the specific foundations that are causing trouble now, not just drill the current topic.
